The Six Ways to PUP
By Paolo Fuentes
You go to PUP five times a week, riding various modes of transportation. You haven’t noticed that it became a cycle. It became a habit. Let us tour the roads to get to our Sintang Paaralan.
Don’t cry for me, Jeepney
The king of the road but ironically the most budget-friendly major transportation. Just a 7-peso discounted fare can let you reach PUP in no time. Here, you can eat your unfinished breakfast, continue your snoring, and review your notes for your first subject examination. Since fare hikes are getting rampant, the so-called “1-2-3” system is a big no-no.
Train, train, don’t go away
To escape the stress of the traffic-jammed streets of the metro, the train is one vehicle you can count on. It is absolutely convenient and zero-traffic. That is, if you could stand the pressure especially during rush hours. In the case of PNR, you need a dramatic chasing scene because the interval of the train’s arrival in a station is every 30 minutes or more. That’s why train is one of the beloved modes of transportation of the Isko’s and Iska’s.
I must, I must, I must ride on that bus
Want a convenient ride from your province to Sintang Paaralan? Bus is the answer. Just present a valid ID to the beloved “Mamang Konduktor” to avail your discounted fare. To escapethe cages of boredom, you can watch entertainment programs on the video on-board. Just be careful in riding buses since hold-up cases are getting high.
Have you tried the trike?
It is shortened as ‘trike’, but it is actually tricycle. For as low as 7 pesos (plus three pesos when streets are flooded), you can lessen the risks of walking on long routes. But admit it, you also hate sitting on that metal seat beside the driver facing the exit, right?
Pedicab-ang masakyan?
If you feel like you are Reyna Elena in a Santacruzan, why not try pedicab? For 10 pesos (solo trip), you can reach PUP slowly but surely. But, as a driver always says, “Barya lang po sa umaga!”
I’m walking on sunshine!
Of all transportation, our feet are the cheapest way because it can take us not only at the gate but until our respected classrooms. Having a tight budget? Want to lose weight? With your lover, holding hands? Walking is the best way to do.
Wherever you are, the transportation will definitely bring you to Sintang Paaralan where you shape and mold the future you. ###
